This paper, originally presented to the Presbytery of the Dakotas in March 1971, can also be found in the Minutes of the Thirty-Ninth General Assembly of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church<\/em>, May 15 – May 20, 1972, pp. 23-26. The cultural situation in which we live has changed since this study was produced. Written today, it likely would have a different emphasis. The principles of the Word of God, however, remain unchanged. Transliteration of Hebrew and Greek words has been added.

Walking through Trial Procedure<\/a>: An Informal Look at an Ecclesiastical Trial\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, a member cannot be formally disciplined by either the pastor or ruling elders simply accusing him of sin. Rather, a trial must take place. The Book of Discipline of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Chapter IV, provides the constitutional guidelines for conducting a trial in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. This paper is in no way a replacement for the constitution nor even a commentary on it. Rather, it attempts to describe in informal, non-technical language, some of the highlights of that chapter, as judicial process can be confusing, particularly as its use is, thankfully, infrequent.<\/p>\n
